Portsmouth Information

One of England's busiest and most important ports, Portsmouth ferry port is located on England's southern coastline and thanks to the local bus networks and the road system it is only a short journey from the city's centre. One of the UK's largest and busiest ports, Portsmouth has a host of facilities for passengers, including a café, bar, bureau de change, ATM and 516 space multi-storey car park.

Portsmouth is the only city in England to have been constructed on an island, and the city is also the historic home of the Royal Navy and has the world's oldest, still functioning dry dock. The city's dry docks attract many visitors, as they currently house three British battleships, the most famous of them, the H.M.S Victory. But Portsmouth's attractions do not stop with the dry docks and Naval Centre, its waterfront houses, the Spinnaker tower, a wide range of shops and boutiques as well as many restaurants and cafes for visitors to relax and unwind in.

    Excellent value

If there had been even minimal access to hot or cold drinks and maybe som e light snacks this would have a 5 star review but everything closes leaving you with just 2 vending machines on the entire vessel.

    Dreading trip
    • Portsmouth to Le Havre with Brittany Ferries

We booked this trip as we are moving to Portugal. We had planned to go in July, but the house sale in the U.K. fell through. As all our cloths etc were already there we had to buy new, this lead us to take my car and the ferry. My wife can get sea sick in the bath and being November the sea crossing can be bad. The trip was absolutely amazing the staff were great and friendly the cabin I booked was very comfortable, boarding was a breeze as was the exiting in France. I would definitely recommend you and when I bring my car back to the U.K. you will be top of my list Andy Carey

Brittany Ferries' Trip - Portsmouth to Le Havre
    • Portsmouth to Le Havre with Brittany Ferries

Only one main complaint - the air-conditioning at night made for a very uncomfortable, cold experience which we weren't warned about. Blankets are usually provided without charge. We took our own blankets on the return journey.
