Balearia Ferriea

Baleària is a Spanish ferry operator, launched in July 1998 to link the Spanish mainland to the Baleàric Islands. Baleària is the only operator to have services from the mainland to all four of the Belearics, Mallorca, Minorca, Mahon and Ibiza, as well as running ferries between all the islands and to Ceuta and Morocco every day, providing a valued link for tourists and locals alike between the heart of the region's port cities.

Since Baleària's creation, it has always looked to expand and improve upon its services. This has helped Baleària grow to a company with a fleet of 11 ships operating on 13 different routes in the region. Baleària also have a commitment to using the latest high-speed ships, including luanching 4 brand new ferries in 2009. The new Martín i Soler ferry has been the latest addition to the Balearia fleet; this vessel represents a new concept of travelling to the Balearics as it offers more services for customers than ever before, and combines this with faster crossing times and better fuel efficiency.

    Winter break in ibiza
    • Denia to Ibiza with Balearia

Great trip. I paid €150 return, for myself and motorbike. Much cheaper than a return flight. Check in time is longer than I'd expected (90 minutes before departure) but not too much hanging around, vehicles are loaded efficiently. It's comfortable on board, there are enough seats, bars and toilets, it doesn't feel crowded. There's a decent self service restaurant, with 3 or 4 different main courses. I paid about €15 for 2 courses. Good food, although not 'fine dining' My only criticism is that the signage at both ports is minimal. If you're driving its not very clear where you should go, which is the right boat etc. (Ibiza is worse than denia) and this could be a bit stressful, especially if you were boarding in the dark and running late. But anyway - I really enjoyed my experience of the return trip from Denia to Ibiza.

    Good journey
    • Alcudia to Barcelona with Balearia

It is a good job we arrived an hour early as the due sailing time had been brought forward by over an hour and we had received no information advising about this. Fortunately we made the crossing. The journey was comfortable and we highly recommend the first class seats.

    Strange boarding arrangements
    • Ciutadella to Alcudia with Balearia

Crossing was fine, on time and very comfortable, The loading arrangements at were strange, pillion passengers has to leave bike and travel as foot passengers hopefully meeting up with bike rider once on board. Foot passengers went through full security baggage scans etc, while rider loaded with full luggage completely unchecked. Motorbike was directed up steep slope on board to be parked on the Half deck. Unloading was down the ramp which was either over steel chevrons ( for car grip loading) or smooth steel between chevron which offered no grip with a heavy tourer 2 up. Would have been much simpler to have left bikes on 1st deck where there was plenty of room.

    Get there early
    • Barcelona to Palma with Balearia

Once on board it is excellent. The Barcellona checking in and boarding is a nightmare. Give yourselves plenty of time.
