Situated amongst the beautiful surroundings of the northern coast of Mallorca, the port of Alcudia is at the top of a large bay, home to an impressive white sandy beach. The port area is highly picturesque and represents one of the city's main attractions. Alcudia is an old town founded by the Phoenicians (it's actually the oldest city in Mallorca), and it has an historic charm.

Alcudia's waterfront is the focus of many visitors attention, with fantastic watersport opportunities available. Bars, restaurants and cafés are found all along the bay, which is also home to the town's cosmopolitan nightlife, and across Alcudia there are charming streets lined with shops and boutiques. There is also a superb and characteristic market on Sundays.

    Good journey
    • Alcudia to Barcelona with Balearia

It is a good job we arrived an hour early as the due sailing time had been brought forward by over an hour and we had received no information advising about this. Fortunately we made the crossing. The journey was comfortable and we highly recommend the first class seats.

    Strange boarding arrangements
    • Ciutadella to Alcudia with Balearia

Crossing was fine, on time and very comfortable, The loading arrangements at were strange, pillion passengers has to leave bike and travel as foot passengers hopefully meeting up with bike rider once on board. Foot passengers went through full security baggage scans etc, while rider loaded with full luggage completely unchecked. Motorbike was directed up steep slope on board to be parked on the Half deck. Unloading was down the ramp which was either over steel chevrons ( for car grip loading) or smooth steel between chevron which offered no grip with a heavy tourer 2 up. Would have been much simpler to have left bikes on 1st deck where there was plenty of room.

    Travel with Dog
    • Alcudia to Barcelona with Balearia

Came back via Barcelona having traveled out via Valencia. Drove from Uk to accommodate dog and surprised at how different the experience was. Outbound kennels on 8th floor - struggle to get up there with my own crate worth it ensuring my little guy stayed healthy. Return of 8 hours only 2 access visits at very short intervals then long wait till end of journey so dogs quite distressed. One cage was severely soiled at 1st visit so he spent 8 hours in a dirty cage and cleaning of cages seems to be quick rinse of a hose during change overs and not deep clean I expected. Exercise area was tiny despite car deck being huge and empty and deck which could be accessed by the ramp completely under utilized. Glad I had brought by own travel cage which fitted inside ones provided but would have been happier to keep dog in my car on the car deck (as permitted by some other ferry operators) Cabin was lovely but on board catering was pretty poor and no vegetarian options for 8 hour journey!
